The NBA’s regular season heads south of the border this weekend. The Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers meet at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Saturday, 7 November, in the NBA Mexico City Game 2026. The league and its promoter, Zignia Live, confirmed the fixture on 16 April, and it will be the 35th NBA game played in Mexico since 1992, more than in any country outside the United States and Canada.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm Eastern Time, according to the Pacers’ published schedule as reported by Fieldhouse Files. That is 4pm local time in Mexico City and 6am on Sunday, 8 November, in Malaysia. The game counts as a Pacers home game, so it carries full regular-season weight in the standings, and it arrives during the week of Día de Muertos for the third year in a row.

The essentials

  • Matchup: Denver Nuggets vs Indiana Pacers, regular season (Pacers home game).
  • Venue: Arena CDMX, Mexico City.
  • Date: Saturday, 7 November 2026; 5pm ET, 4pm in Mexico City, 6am Sunday 8 November in Malaysia (MYT).
  • Milestone: the NBA’s 35th game in Mexico since 1992.
  • Broadcast: ESPN in Mexico and across Latin America, with ESPN on Disney+ in selected international markets, according to the league.
  • Theme: a Día de Muertos-inspired court and in-arena activations.

A Día de Muertos showcase

The NBA has leaned into the timing. Its announcement promised a specially themed court and fan activations tied to Día de Muertos, along with NBA Cares programming on health, wellness and sustainability and Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA clinics for young players and coaches. Around the game, the Nuggets have advertised a “House of Legends” hospitality evening on Friday, 6 November, featuring former NBA forward Danilo Gallinari, plus a watch party back in Denver for fans who could not travel.

Demand has been strong. The Pacers’ event page now lists single-game tickets as sold out, with only official experience packages still on offer. That fits a long pattern: Mexico City has become one of the league’s most reliable international stops, and the NBA describes the relationship as one of its deepest outside North America. Raul Zarraga, the NBA’s senior vice president and head of operations for Latin America and Canada, said hosting a 35th game “reflects the depth of the NBA’s relationship with Mexico”.

Denver: Jokic and a reshaped bench

Denver arrive as one of the steadiest operations in the Western Conference. NBA.com’s Cup preview notes that the Nuggets have put together four straight 50-win seasons, the longest active run in the West, although they were knocked out in the first round of the 2026 playoffs. Nikola Jokic, the three-time MVP from Sombor in Serbia, remains the centre of everything, with Jamal Murray, a 2026 All-Star, and Aaron Gordon alongside him.

The supporting cast has changed. DeMar DeRozan joined in the summer, while Peyton Watson, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown moved on. How quickly DeRozan’s mid-range scoring meshes with Jokic’s playmaking is one of the early storylines of Denver’s season, and a neutral-site game against a quick, transition-minded opponent is a useful test of that fit.

This will be the Nuggets’ second game in Mexico. The franchise is no stranger to playing abroad: Eurohoops recalls that Denver beat these same Pacers in London in 2017 and appeared in the NBA Abu Dhabi Games preseason in 2024. Kevin Demoff of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment framed the trip around the team’s international identity, describing a team “led by two electrifying stars born outside of the U.S.”, a reference to Jokic and the Canadian Murray.

Indiana: Haliburton back on the big stage

For the Pacers, this is a franchise first: their debut regular-season game in Mexico City. It also gives a global audience one of its first long looks at Tyrese Haliburton since his return. Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals and missed the whole of 2025-26. He came back on opening night on 21 October in New Orleans, posting 23 points and 12 assists as Indiana won 123-120, with Pascal Siakam scoring 30.

Indiana’s 2025-26 season without Haliburton was one of the league’s sharpest year-on-year declines, according to NBA.com. The roster around him has been reinforced. Ivica Zubac arrived at the February trade deadline, and Kelly Oubre Jr. and Larry Nance Jr. signed during the summer, joining the bulk of the core that reached the 2025 Finals. The league’s announcement lists Haliburton, Siakam and Zubac as the players to watch.

  • Nuggets to watch: Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, DeMar DeRozan.
  • Pacers to watch: Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, Ivica Zubac.
  • Previous international meeting: Denver beat Indiana in London in 2017.
  • Nuggets in Mexico: second appearance. Pacers in Mexico City: first regular-season game.

The matchup to watch

The most intriguing battle is in the paint. Zubac is a strong, physical centre who earned All-Defensive Second Team honours in 2025, and his job will be to make Jokic work for position without fouling. Few big men have solved Jokic over a full game, but Zubac’s size gives Indiana a more credible option than the lighter frontcourts it used during its 2025 run. Expect Siakam to take turns on Gordon, and Indiana to try to push the pace after misses to keep Denver from setting its half-court defence.

At the other end, Haliburton’s workload deserves attention. He is only a few weeks into his comeback, and Indiana has every reason to be careful with minutes in a season that still has a long way to run. Whether the Pacers keep him on his usual load, or lean on their bench in a game that involves a flight and an unfamiliar arena, will say a lot about how the coaching staff is managing his return.

Altitude is a quirk worth noting. Mexico City sits higher than Denver, which might give the Nuggets, used to playing at elevation at home, a small edge in the closing minutes. Both coaches may manage rotations with that in mind.

Why the game matters beyond one night

Both clubs are also in the middle of the Emirates NBA Cup group stage, though this game is not part of it. Denver’s West Group A matchups with Houston, Dallas and Utah follow later in November, while Indiana hosts the New York Knicks in an East Group B game on 13 November. The trip therefore falls in a busy stretch, and how both teams handle the travel could affect those Cup nights.

For the league, Mexico City remains a key part of the international calendar, which also includes regular-season games in Europe in January. A sold-out building, a festival theme and two recognisable stars give the NBA exactly the kind of showcase it wants for its 35th visit.

For fans in Malaysia, the 6am Sunday start is an early alarm, but a manageable one. Check your local NBA broadcaster or NBA League Pass for availability. Both teams’ records will have moved by the time the ball goes up, so the standings matter less here than the chance to see Jokic and a healthy Haliburton share a court on one of the league’s biggest international stages.
